Krikri is back this spring with a seventh international festival, cram-packed with top poetry from Belgium and abroad. Let yourself be astonished, challenged and overwhelmed by what poetry can be in 2011. Find out more about the main evening event below; you will find details of the whole festival on our homepage and more info on the participating artists will follow shortly. Hope to see you on April 1st!

The Seven Secrets of Maurice Maeterlinck

Legendary blues gitarist Roland Van Campenhout presents six top international poets from Krikri’s secret treasure chamber:

  • Cia Rinne (Sweden / Finland / Denmark)
  • Hannah Silva (UK)
  • Caroline Bergvall (France / Norway)
  • Lucille Calmel (France / Belgium)
  • Laurence Vielle (Belgium)
  • Nora Gomringer (Germany)

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Ghent poet Maurice Maeterlinck receiving the Nobel Prize for Literature, these seven artists will conjure up a spine-tingling poetic world.

One “oiseau blues” and six poets: ne les touchez pas, ou ils te jettent à l’eau… along with the mixing desk and amplifiers. Don’t go anywhere near the Zwarte Zaal on 1st April if you’re afraid to swim in electrically charged waters.

Zwarte Zaal, J. Kluyskensstraat 2, Gent, Belgium

Admission: 10 euro
